Afghanistan Activist Defends India, Calls Pakistan Responsible for Afghan Suffering After Minister’s DNA Remark
Afghanistan Agriculture Minister Ataullah Omari’s India visit and his DNA remark have sparked reactions in Pakistan. Afghan activist Fazal Afghan defended India, criticized Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan’s suffering, and called India a true friend while highlighting ongoing regional tensions.
The statement came amid ongoing tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Following Omari’s remarks, several Pakistanis criticized the Taliban leader’s comments. In response, Afghan activist Fazal Afghan has strongly defended India, describing it as Afghanistan’s true friend and accusing Pakistan of causing immense suffering to Afghans.
In a social media post, Fazal Afghan criticized Pakistan’s attempt to portray India as Afghanistan’s enemy. He wrote that he is a proud Afghan Muslim and that Hindus have never been his enemies. He further stated that whenever Afghan and Indian leaders meet, Pakistan brings up religious issues and attempts to turn every matter into a Muslim versus Hindu debate.
Fazal Afghan highlighted what he described as Pakistan’s double standards, stating on X that Pakistan’s government and military have directly and indirectly caused the deaths of countless innocent Afghans over many years, including women and children. He said Afghanistan has faced pain and destruction in which Pakistan played a major role.
He contrasted this with India’s role, stating that India has never caused such harm and has always stood with Afghanistan through difficult times with assistance, respect, and support.
Fazal Afghan further said that a country cannot harm Afghans for decades and then expect their support over India merely because of shared religious identity. He emphasized that he will always stand with India and that Afghanistan knows who its real friend is.
The remarks by Afghanistan’s Agriculture Minister Ataullah Omari about the shared DNA between India and Afghanistan have triggered sharp reactions in Pakistan. Pakistani experts have also responded critically to the statement. Recently, Pakistani commentator Sajid Tarar claimed that the Taliban leader’s remarks were influenced by financial support from India.
Tarar, who lives in the United States, said that these are the same Taliban who were supported by Pakistan and claimed that Pakistan had provided them extensive backing in the past.
The controversy surrounding Omari’s statement has highlighted the deepening debate over Afghanistan’s historical, cultural, and political relations with India and Pakistan, with Afghan voices raising questions about regional alliances and past actions.
